Robert Slattery, CEO/Founder

Robert Slattery, President and CEO of ReachUSA, has a long track record of local entrepreneurship and investment into the Greater Cincinnati business community. Slattery is a Cleveland native and graduate of Miami University, where he studied business and earned a masters degree in communications.

After college, Slattery and college roommate Robert Wolfe bought the Cincinnati Valpak® franchise, and in time expanded their territory to become the largest Valpak franchise. Slattery and Wolfe founded licensor Reach® Magazine in 1983. In 1998, Wolfe sold his stake to Slattery to pursue other interests. Reach Publishing, LLC a separate production company owned by Slattery, currently produces magazines in 23 U.S.markets.

Additionally, Slattery owns and operates a diverse group of companies, most in the advertising and media fields. The flagship, ReachUSA Sales Group, LLC, in conjunction with ReachUSA.com, is a media marketing company, which sells mass targeted consumer magazines including Reach® Magazine, In-Touch Magazine (focused on a female audience with strong purchasing in their household) with the web component, InTouchZine.com, as well as several consumer periodicals such as Hometown Golf®; Hacks Magazine (covering local high school sports) with a web site showcasing a full feature forum and in-depth articles; and Housetrends® (an upscale home & garden magazine), in Greater Cincinnati and 10 other US markets. In 2007, Slattery added Cincinnati Gentlemen (a high profile magazine for and about successful Cincinnati businessmen). www.CincyGentlemen.com

Slattery’s entrepreneurial spirit does not stop there. He is also founder of Perimeter Technologies, Inc., manufacturer, retail sales, and installer of Pet Stop® electronic pet containment fencing systems, which holds several key patents in the industry which has helped it expand coast to coast with over 150 dealers. (Press Release: Runaway Hit: Electric pen may be mightier than the cord ) Cruise World Travel/Cruise 800®, a national full service travel agency rated by Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Lines as a Top 50 agency in cruise service, also falls under Slattery's umbrella of companies. One of Slattery’s most recent endeavors is that of a restaurateur. In early 2006, he created a new casual dining concept - Slatts Pub. Slattery was a Finalist in the Marketing Category in the Ernst & Young Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Entrepreneur of the Year in 2006. (See article here ). In the same year, ReachUSA was a member of the Deloitte Cincinnati USA 100 largest privately held companies.

Slattery has been involved with several Greater Cincinnati charities: Slattery served as president of Tennis For Charity, Inc. (TFC) from 2001 through 2004, and had been a board member for two decades. TFC operates both a men’s and woman’s professional tennis event, together generating over $18 million annually. The Western & Southern Financial Group Masters & Women’s Open benefits Children's Hospital Medical Center, Tennis for Inner-City Youth, and The Barrett Cancer Center.

His professional sports marketing experience and charitable mission led Slattery to create Reach Event Marketing, LLC. REM brought the return of the AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals) to the Greater Cincinnati area. The 2005 AVP Nissan Series, and 2006 AVP Crocs Cup Season Finale, were both held at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. More than 150 of the top professional beach volleyball athletes, including many Olympic medalists, competed in this ultimate sports and entertainment experience. Each year, NBC Sports has broadcasted the event live on Saturday and Sunday. The AVP tournament proceeds benefit The Barrett Cancer Center and women’s heath initiatives in Cincinnati. REM is honored to have been able to donate over $75,000 to The Barrett Cancer Center in the past two years. For more event information, visit www.mustseeavp.com. REM is hard at work planning two world class AVP events in 2007. The first, in partnership with SFX Media & Events, a Blue Equity Company, (www.sfxsports.com) and the City of Louisville, will take place on the Festival Plaza at Waterfront Park in Louisville over Memorial Day weekend, May 24 – May 27. The second event will again be the Crocs Cup Season Finale returning to the Lindner Family Tennis Center over Labor Day Weekend, August 30 – September 2. For more event information, visit www.mustseeavp.com.

REM also organized and served as the underwriter for the 2004, 2005 and 2006 i-wireless ® FOX 19 Prep Classic high school football competitions held at Paul Brown Stadium. (See ‘04 and ‘05 promo here). REM has made a combined $300,000 donation over the past three years to be split amongst the Cincinnati charities: Anthony Munoz Foundation, Cris Collinsworth ProScan Foundation, and the Marvin Lewis Community Fund. These three foundations have joined together to support the Pink Ribbon Center in Over-the-Rhine Cincinnati, a facility dedicated to making a true impact in the lives of many in our inner city and Greater Cincinnati.
